Mgr. Zuzana Kroneková, PhD.

Zuzana is a respected Slovak scientist specializing in the field of polymers and polymeric materials for biomedicine. She currently works at the Institute of Polymers of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), where she focuses on developing new polymeric carriers for drug and mRNA therapeutics that can effectively and safely deliver drugs to their site of action. Her work contributes to the advancement of biomedical applications and innovations using polymers, as well as the research of environmentally friendly materials.

Zuzana is the author of several scientific publications, and her research has been presented at international conferences. She is also active in the popularization of science and collaborates on several projects funded by state and European sources.


Short Professional Biography

Education:

  • She completed her Master’s degree in 2001 at Comenius University in Bratislava, specializing in Molecular Biology.
  • She earned her PhD in 2005 from the Technical University in Dresden after completing her doctoral studies at the Max Planck Institute for Genetics and Molecular Biology in Dresden, Germany.
  • She obtained the scientific title IIa with a specialization in Macromolecular Chemistry in 2016 at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.

Career:

  • After completing her studies in Germany, she worked as a scientist for one year in Poland before returning to Slovakia. Her home institution became the Polymer Institute of the SAS, where she has focused her research on developing new polymers and their use in biomedicine from the very beginning.
  • She has published several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has participated in numerous national and international conferences. She is a member of several scientific organizations and advisory boards in her field.
  • She has been involved in organizing several national and international scientific events and conferences, for example, the PM15 conference in 2023.
